The season kicks off in September with Hell’s Kitchen, a musical inspired by Alicia Keys’ life and music. But this isn’t your typical jukebox musical. Mirvish argues the term is limiting, emphasizing that Hell’s Kitchen blends original compositions with Keys’ greatest hits, creating a “fully cooked” narrative. Mirvish coyly avoids confirming if these are pre-Broadway engagements, but admits, “Getting shows to Broadway is always the goal.”
Controversy alert: While Mirvish champions Canadian and U.K. productions, the reduced American presence raises eyebrows.
